Lake Maggiore, Italy
Nothing like a hump day spent at the beach to get me through the week!
However, it wouldn't be my typical day without absolute chaos in the morning as a result of faulty alarm clocks. However, by the grace of God, we somehow woke up at the exact time we were supposed to be meeting at the train station. Mo and I threw on bathing suits and ran to the metro, and made it on our train in the knick of time.
I do all this intentionally so to keeps things interesting.
I was kicking myself at the thought of missing today because Lake Maggiore was gorgeous! Our morning was spent touring the Borromean Islands in Stresa, Italy. We frequented the islands Isola Bella and Isola Madre which have the most incredible picturesque gardens and lush plants.
We meandered around each island, posed for pictures by blossoming plants and stood in awe at all the natural beauty around us! My friend Caroline and I found a cute table by a lemon tree and ordered ourselves a Spritz and crackers. What is a Spritz you ask? Why it's a common Italian drink that is a mix of Prosecco, a hint of liquor and topped off with sparkling water. I'll definitely have to bring Spritz back to the United States because it's super light and super refreshing! When I'm 21 of course.
The night before they were calling for rain, but apparently the big man is looking out for me today because it was all sunshine! With my bathing suit on, the sun shining down and my towel laid out--Don't mind if I do! I had a picture perfect day relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun! Our whole group was entranced by the clear blue water, only to get in and nearly freeze to death! Even though the water was frigid, it was still a blast laughing and swimming with all my new friends!
Well, I'm gonna go set 7 alarms and maybe I'll wake up to one tomorrow.
