Phuket, Thailand
John only had one full day in Singapore, before the two of us headed back to the airport off to the next adventure. PHUKET, THAILAND was next on queue.
In the hour and a half flight to Phuket, I managed to get cozy on John's shoulder with my eye mask and knocked out. John being the evil gremlin he is took video footage of me snoring and showed no mercy when posting a picture to his snap story.
When we were looking at places in Thailand- we really wanted to a relaxing getaway. Nothing too crowded and somewhere the two of us could totally unwind.
And that was Kata.
We stayed at a "quite nice" family run hotel in between Kata and Karon just a 10 minute walk from the beach. The location was perfect because we could choose which beach we wanted to go to and the walk was lined with numerous restaurants and shops.
After dropping our bags off at the hotel, we walked over to the beach. We could already feel the Thai sun baking us so we plastered on sunblock. Both of us were cozy on our beach towels, looking at the crystal blue water and trying to believe that we were in Thailand.
On our walk back, we decided to get couples massages! One hour full body Thai massage was 300 Thai Baht = $10.00 USD!! Uh... sign me up everyday for forever.
We were on two beds side by side wearing these silly matching outfits. So. funny. God bless the poor tiny thai woman who was tasked to massage John. She probably picked the shortest straw. The woman was using ALL her might, literally her entire body weight, to massage john's back…and yet still probably not even making a dent.
It was so funny because the woman kept laughing the whole time. I peaked one eye open and the woman was in the air, full body weight, elbow jamming into john's back trying to do some sort of damage. John just laid peacefully unaware and unfazed as his back muscles were probably getting a mere rubdown.
Nonetheless, at the end of our massages we both felt refreshed and rejuvenated.
John and I explored the small town of Kata and settled for dinner at a restaurant that was bustling and more importantly had spring rolls! While in Thailand, I fully intended to make the most of getting cheap authentic Thai food! (See my post on Thai Food to see what we ate all trip!)
We ended our night cheers-ing our Thai beers over delicious food.
"Cheers to being in Thailand."
The only thing better than the ambiance, the drinks, and the food, was the company.
